Sanders wins Whatcom County

As of 4 p.m. on March 11, Bernie Sanders was leading Joe Biden by a significant margin in Whatcom County's presidential primary election.

According to the Whatcom County election office, Sanders had received 23,830 votes (44.8%) in Whatcom County, compared to 16,689 (31.4%) for Biden. There were an estimated 6,000 ballots left to count. The primary final results will not be certified until March 20.

On the Republican side, President Trump won 18,358 votes (98.7%) in Whatcom County, compared to 251 write-ins (1.4%).

Statewide, the results were much closer with Biden in the lead with 409,399 votes (35%) versus Sanders with 392,854 votes (33.6%), according to the Washington secretary of state’s webpage last updated on March 12 at 2 p.m.

On the Republican side, President Trump won 18,362 votes (98.6%) in Whatcom County, compared to 254 write-ins (1.4%).
