The Point Roberts Community Advisory Committee has set a tentative meeting with county planner and code enforcement officer Garrett Faddis on Tuesday, February 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to discuss county codes and how they are enforced on the Point.

"Additionally, I would propose that part of the discussion involve the members' thoughts on participation in assessing violations for severity of community impact," Faddis wrote in accepting the committee's invitation to talk about the issue.

At the February 10 meeting of the committee, new member Ron Clark reported that earlier this month county planning and development staff "did a tour around to the 15 code violation reports [they have recently received from Point Roberts] and they basically threw them out." The county's enforcement procedure is to prioritize violations according to the level of health and safety risk the violation represents.

"There are no safety or health issues," Clark said of the batch of complaints from the Point that county planners are reviewing. He said the issues were more of illegal signage and unpermitted development. "If there is no enforcement of these issues all of our work on the character plan is out the window." Check the All Point Bulletin website for updates on meeting dates and times.
