Point Roberts Taxpayers Association AGM tonight

Tonight at 5 p.m., the director of the Washington State Department of Commerce, Lisa J. Brown, PhD, will be the keynote speaker at the Point Roberts Taxpayers Association’s 2022 annual general meeting. The meeting takes place from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at Kiniski’s Reef Tavern and Grill on Gulf Road.

Brown will be speaking on “Washington’s Economic Recovery: Helping Communities Thrive” and will address the challenges facing Point Roberts as it recovers from the pandemic and border shutdown. Her remarks will be followed by a question-and-answer period with the audience. Washington state District 42 representative Sharon Shewmake is expected to participate as well. Shewmake is running this year for the District 42 Senate seat that Simon Seznik, R-Ferndale was appointed to after the death of Doug Ericksen who died after contracting Covid-19.
