David Ho
Born August 14, 1937
Family and friends are mourning the recent and unexpected passing of David Ho. During a routine walk in his neighbourhood near Diefenbaker Park, he lost his way and was unable to find his way home in the harsh weather conditions.
David was not only creative, intelligent, caring, and hardworking but, as a loving husband and father his devotion to his wife and family was exceptional and unconditional. An active and caring member of the McKee Senior Centre, he enjoyed participating in snooker, jazzercise, and sing-along groups. With a wonderful voice and a love of performing, he took his dream of being a rock star and poured it into his karaoke singing. David and his wife May volunteered at the Kinsmen Retirement Centre (now known as Kin Village) in Tsawwassen, Austin-Harris Residence in Richmond, The Cedars at Beulah Gardens in Vancouver, and McKee Senior Centre in Ladner.
Diefenbaker Park was one of David’s favourite destinations on his neighbourhood strolls. He would routinely walk around the park and then enjoy the view during a rest on a bench overlooking the whole park
. David had relentless determination to succeed at whatever he tried. After starting out in plastic manufacturing, in 1983, he and May founded the Delta Tackle manufacturing company and David put his heart and hard work into this business until he retired in 2005.
David leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, May, his four children, Cecilia (Greg), Davis (Jessie), Angela, and Benita, as well as his three grandsons, Dawson, Joshua, and Justin.
The family expresses their deep gratitude to the Delta Police Department, Whatcom County Fire District 5, and the search and rescue teams and volunteer searchers in Tsawwassen and Point Roberts. We would also like to acknowledge Dr. S. Noble who has been very helpful and supportive. In addition, we thank the many neighbours and friends David met during his walks.
A small, private service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Whatcom County Fire District 5 (Point Roberts). (ccarleton@wcfd5.com)
