County works expects spring repairs

Whatcom County public works staff anticipates repairs to the Maple Beach seawall damaged in last summer’s fatal crash will be underway in late spring.

“Our plan is to request quotes from local contractors in April with construction to occur in May,” public works bridge and hydraulics manager James Lee wrote to Bayview Drive resident Stephen Fowler on March 11.

“The traveling requirements for the border crossing appear to be less restrictive than they were when we requested quotes late last year, so we are optimistic we will have better luck this time around.” He added they had sent out requests for quotes to have the work done late last year but received no response.
